Do you keep an uplifting spirit despite life’s turnovers?
How does humor build up the coaching relationship?
Is humor a safe way out of misery?
Humor has to do everything with life coaching as it lets off steam, and it creates an authentic and open environment for fruitful communication.
So humor is an exceptional way to have direct communication with people as it can take us out of some very, very serious situations that don’t need to be that serious. Often, we tend to exaggerate, and we need humor just to cheer up and see the positive side of things.
Please don’t confuse humor and sarcasm, though. Humor liberates feelings, but sarcasm is a light projection of all the things we feel inferior.
Humor is so important, and for that, it’s included in the ICF’s core competencies guidelines as a significant asset of the coaching presence. Find out how we get to train our coaches to be the best out there by clicking on the Universal Training program “Life Coaching and Leadership” https://www.universaltraining.edu.gr/akadimaiki-metekpaideysi/life-coaching and our GAC curriculum of studies. Using humor means that we don’t sit on the heaviness, crying on the pain. It’s okay to express sorrow, and we should, but it’s also essential to understand that life has its ups and downs, and we don’t have so much time to spend it in misery.
