So what stops us from getting to the point? What are we most afraid of? My countless coaching hours indicate a simple outcome. We are fearful of judgment and criticism. This is why we prefer not to be open and insist on hiding our skeletons in the closet. But, alas. They are destined to get out eventually and mess up with our minds once again.
Attempting to stabilize average amounts of fear and transforming them into motives for recreation is one of coaching’s main attributes. We welcome a heartwarming environment of acceptance so that everybody feels safe to unveil even his deepest thoughts. We reinforce trust as the fundamental element to accept failure not as a condemnation but as a normal stage before success.
We learn not to hide things from ourselves.
We restore trust in those who feel surrounded by enemies.
We pass by judgment and criticism.
We welcome our flaws and build through them our better version.
