That quote sounds surprisingly familiar to female leaders that are struggling for equal treatment in the business world. Modern working conditions are mostly imposed by men, making the combination of productivity and femininity a constant challenge. We need desperately to prove ourselves equally effective and valuable as men. We’ve lowered our female standards and condemned our identity to gain their respect and admiration. But come to think of it, it hit us back. Despite that sacrifice, men keep having the lion’s share in strategic and corporate decision making. Unfortunately, we wore shoes that didn’t fit us! The modern business world downgrades female traits, such as sensitivity, empathy, gentleness, sweetness. It’s sad that we don’t feel comfortable expressing these traits anymore out of fear. The fear of being accused of vulnerability. We have cut our core traits off, believing that playing by the men’s rules is the safest way to survive.
Yes, many female leaders are making things happen nowadays, are strong and courageous. But that doesn’t change the fact that they end up having themselves at the bottom of their to-do list. However, shall we embrace all the things that make us strong and unique in business, female leadership can be efficient and productive. Leadership should be sightful, value-driven, transforming, conscious, accepting, and women know how to incarnate these values better than anyone. Those are the traits that GAC and business coaching help women to develop and grow.
